Basically, Tree finally put someone else's well-being before her own. At the beginning of Happy Death Day, Tree is horrified, hung over, and confused to find herself in Carter's dorm room. Realizing that she hasn’t actually investigated Lori during her hunt for the killer, Tree remembers that the only time she had the cupcake was after Tombs was killed.
