James Tierney, Sixty Ninth Regiment Historical Trust, The storied ‘Irish Brigade’ regiment, one of the oldest and most honored military units in the history of the United States, is proud to present its first Irish whiskey to America.Founded in 1849 as a New York state Irish militia, the 69th has fought as a U.S. Army infantry regiment in major engagements from the civil war to modern day Iraq and Afghanistan. For decades, the leadership of the 69th had searched for a whiskey worthy of the occasion.
Three years later Colonel Tierney's vision was realized.
We use only the ﬁnest high quality distilling grains. It was christened the “Fighting 69th” during the Civil War by none other than Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee, who saw the New Yorkers rout his own ferocious “Louisiana Tigers” during the battle of Malvern Hill in 1862. Getting their name from one of the oldest military units in the history of the United States and importing whiskey directly from Ireland allows this one of a kind blend to be bound in a lot of history and tradition. One dollar of every bottle sold goes to support the Sixty-Ninth Infantry Regiment Historical Trust, a 501-c-3 not-for-profit foundation.
